Chairman of the Board of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande has described teachers as builders of nations who deserve special recognition.
The professor of Comparative Politics, in a statement on the occasion of Teachers Day noted that teachers; whether as school teacher, college lecturer or even professor ; are noble technocrats deserving to be celebrated.
“As such, I wish to congratulate all teachers on this auspicious occasion of their day. They are builders of nations”,he stressed.
The NCC boss further lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for moving the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65.
According to him, the President in recognition of the foundational roles teachers play in nation- building, has also approved enhanced salary scale for teachers.
The APC governorship aspirant, however urged teachers to reciprocate the good gesture of President Buhari motivations by rededicating themselves to serving humanity through their nation- building efforts.
“The role of teachers in nation building cannot be over-emphasised. Our teachers need to continue to do more for us to progress as a people”, Akande added.
