Tackle insurgency now, ex-rep, Daramola urges service chiefs

Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Bimbo Daramola has urged the newly appointed service chiefs to face the challenges of insurgency without wasting time.

Daramola, who represented Ekiti North Federal Constituency, noted that nothing short of victory within a very short time will be acceptable to Nigerians and as well affirm the competence of the new Service Chiefs.

According to the ex-lawmaker , Nigerians have waited long enough for the assumption of fresh bloods into the security architecture of the country to bring in fresh ideas and professionalism to combat insecurity headlong.

He advised the Service Chiefs to take issue of welfare of the officers and men of the personnel very important as this goes a long way to determine the success or otherwise of the fight against insurgency.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, the nation’s capital, Daramola observed that there have been rumors of low morale in the camp of the soldiers which led to insubordination once or twice, this he stressed is not good for the image of the military.

Mega Icon Magazine recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had during the week accepted the resignation of the Service Chiefs and appointed fresh hands to take over.

The Service Chiefs have also promised to address the issue of insecurity which is a major challenge confronting the Buhari-led administration.

Daramola, however advised the president to get approval from the National Assembly for the confirmation of the new Service Chiefs, noting that the officers will continue to operate in acting capacity until they are cleared by the parliament.
