Stakeholders laud Ajimobi over multi million naira model schools

The multi million naira on going construction of model schools in Baptist High School, Saki, Oba Akinbiyi Secondary School, Mokola and Islamic High School, Bashorun will be completed in few weeks as ten additional model schools are expected to commence next year.

The 3 model schools are the initiative of Governor Abiola Ajimobi led administration to improve the standard of education in state.

Since inception of the present administration, attention has been given to education sector through the employment of teachers in both primary and secondary schools,distribution of instructional and learning materials to schools as well as creating enabling environment for academic excellence.

Recently the state government also established School Governing Board and Oyo State Model Education System Intervention tagged OYO MESI aimed at improving teachers’ competence,character education as well as infuse localized content in its education system.

To change the facelift of the secondary schools in the state,an approval was given for the construction of three multi million naira model schools by Governor Ajimobi which has reached an advanced stage.

The model schools at Baptist High School, Saki,Oba Akinbiyi Secondary School, Mokola and Islamic High School, Bashorun housed 35 classrooms, Science laboratories, hall with a capacity of 500 people, 25 Toilets and Administrative offices with modern facilities.

As they say all work without play makes jack a dull boy, the model Schools also has basket ball,volley ball and hand ball courts to encourage and enhance sporting activities among the students.

The commissioner for Education in the state, Prof Adeniyi Olowofela, during his visit to the sites of the model schools said government was committed to providing quality education to students in the state.

Similarly, the Chairman, National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria, NAPTAN, Oyo state chapter, Comrade Abayomi Toki and Chairman, School Governing Board, Agugu High School, Mr Gbemiga Adeyemi commended the state government for the laudable initiative.

According to Professor Olowofela, construction of ten additional model schools would commence next year while approval has been given for the completion of the abandoned model schools in Ogbomoso by the previous adminstration in the state.

No doubt, the aroma of Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s outstanding legacies will speak volume for him after he might have left office.

The task of improving the standard of education in the state can not be left in hands of government alone hence the need for people to contribute their quota towards lifting the sector to enviable heights.
