Social Media Outage Leaves Millions Logged Out on Facebook, Instagram

In a widespread disruption on Tuesday around 3:30 pm, users across Facebook and Instagram found themselves abruptly logged out of the platforms.

Facebook users were greeted with a message stating, “The password that you’ve entered is incorrect,” while Instagram users encountered the message, “Something went wrong. There’s an issue and the page could not be loaded.”

The outage prompted a surge in reports across various social media channels, with millions expressing their frustration and confusion.

Trending hashtags like #instagramdown and “Facebook and Instagram” dominated discussions as users sought information and shared their experiences.

Downdetector, a website that tracks online service outages, displayed a significant increase in reported issues related to logging into Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Users flooded the platform with complaints, indicating a widespread impact on Meta-owned services.

As of the time of this report, Meta, the parent company of both Facebook and Instagram, has not issued any official statement regarding the outage.

The cause of the disruption and the estimated time for resolution remain undisclosed. Users are advised to stay tuned for updates as the social media giant addresses the technical issues impacting its platforms.
