Senator Adeleke Wins Osun PDP Guber Ticket

Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke’s younger brother, Sen Ademola Adeleke representing Osun West Senatorial District has emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State by the slimmest of margins.

Adeleke, known for his dance moves, won Saturday’s primary which was held at GMT Hotel, Osogbo by polling 1, 569 votes, while his closest rival, Akin Ogunbiyi, scored a total of 1,562 votes.

The lawmaker won by 7 votes as Fatai Akingbade placed third with 52 votes, while Nathaniel Oke made up the rear with 3 votes.

Senator Ademola Adeleke had earlier pledged to fulfil his late brother’s dream, Senator Isiaka Adeleke popularly addressed as ‘Serubawon’ by his numerous fans, of becoming the next governor of Osun State, Mega Icon Magazine, then, authoritatively reported.

Ademola, who contested and won the election under the platform of  the PDP confided in his loyalists shortly after his victory, saying “I will contest the governorship election next year, to fulfil my late brother’s dream”, sources hinted.

Announcing the results, Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson who served as the Primary Electoral Committee Chairman declared Sen. Ademola Adeleke winner and the flag bearer of PDP in the next gubernatorial election on September 22 having recorded the highest votes.
