RESIDENTS of Saki, in Oyo state have condemned the alleged age long cheating, exploitation and manipulations that the community has been facing in the hands of electricity service providers -IBEDC
The community on Tuesday at a well attended meeting held at Saki Parapo Town Hall, organised by Asabari Consultative Council under the Chairmanship of Gen. A.K. Togun (rtd), unanimously decided and agreed that the Council should proceed without delay the commencement of the plan to challenge the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) in order to have more hours of supply.

The efforts of the Council were commended by many in attendance as to the noticeable evidence of improvements in power supply after mounting pressures on the IBEDC.
The town hall meeting was also used as an avenue by the Council to enlighten the teeming populace that attended the meeting on the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Electricity Customers’ Rights and Obligations.
This enlightenment made many in attendance to know their rights as electricity consumers and with a vow to henceforth, enforce their rights which had hitherto been trampled by the Disco serving them.
Also, the National Executive of Saki Parapo led by Dn. Olujimi and Alhaji Okoko and other eminent dignitaries including the Rector, Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Mr. M.O. Oladeji who led the members of the academia at the event.
Artisans, community leaders, Chairmen of Landlords’ association, youth groups, Saki Youth Forum, student leaders and many others were not left out of the meeting that lasted three hours.
The meeting, later dissolved into a massive protest against the IBEDC with many joining the protests with placards of various inscriptions stating the experiences of dismay and manipulations by the IBEDC.
