Real Madrid and Brazil legend Ronaldo has suggested that Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain may not be for the reasons most people believe.
Neymar swapped the Nou Camp for the Parc des Princes in a record-breaking deal this summer that left many fans perplexed.
The Brazilian’s decision to leave arguably the best club in the world led many to suggest he was only interested in money, or that he did not want to play in the same team as Lionel Messi.
But Ronaldo feels there may be a different reason.
Ronaldo left Barcelona for Inter Milan in 1997 after falling out with the Catalan club’s board – and suggested the same could be true of Neymar.
The former Brazil international told Veja : “Neymar’s exit from Barca was a bit like mine. I went to Inter when the Italian league was much stronger than France is now.
“I don’t have the details and I don’t know what was behind the negotiation [for Neymar]. Maybe everything came from problems with the Barcelona board, as was the case with me. I’d do it again.”
