The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Hon. Aderemi Oseni, on Saturday inaugurated a socio-political movement — the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF) — with a clarion call for support towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and the return of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

Speaking at the first Leadership Assembly of ROCOF held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Oseni, an APC chieftain, said the initiative would serve as a grassroots mobilisation platform, a catalyst for leadership development, and a strategic support base for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital,  the federal lawmaker noted that although ROCOF is non-political, non-ethnic and non-religious, it will play active roles in advocacy for good governance and citizen engagement.

“Today is not the beginning of a campaign. It is the awakening of a movement — a movement to inspire hope, champion development and mobilise our people towards collective progress in Oyo State and beyond,” Oseni said.

He revealed that ROCOF, founded in 2018, already has a presence across the 33 local government areas and several wards in the state, and is now set to expand its reach through the inauguration of local coordinators.

Oseni declared that ROCOF’s foremost goal is to deliver Oyo State to President Tinubu in the 2027 elections. This, he said, would not be achieved through propaganda, but through civic enlightenment and engagement that educates the public on the ongoing economic reforms of the federal government and their long-term benefits.

Describing President Tinubu’s policies — including petrol subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms, and the student loan scheme — as bold but necessary decisions, Oseni said: “We must stand with Mr President — not just in words, but through actions that drive support and mobilise the people for his success.”

At the state level, the ROCOF convener expressed firm commitment to ensuring Oyo returns to the APC fold in 2027, arguing that the current PDP-led administration has failed to adequately tap into federal opportunities due to political misalignment.

“A government in opposition to the centre is a government that shortchanges its people. Oyo must return to the mainstream for development to thrive,” he stated.

The APC chieftain also unveiled a six-point agenda for ROCOF, which includes: empowering young people for leadership, supporting market traders, advocating the release of politically persecuted individuals, promoting good governance, advancing quality education,  infrastructure development, and ensuring access to sound healthcare among others.

He emphasised that ROCOF  would actively support credible and competent leaders who embody the values of justice and equity.

Charging newly inaugurated ROCOF leaders to take the message to every corner of the state, Oseni said: “We are building a structure of change agents and hope ambassadors. We must engage every community, every ward, and every citizen with our message of progress. ROCOF has become a household name across Oyo State.”
