Rep Oseni sponsors JAMB registration for 509 indigent students after WAEC support

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Oyo state, Engr. Aderemi Oseni has sponsored the 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees for no fewer than 509 indigent students in his constituency.

Oseni’s latest intervention follows his earlier sponsorship of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registration fees for over 500 underprivileged students for the 2025 examination cycle.

His media aide, Idowu Ayodele, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Thursday.

The statement explained that the initiative was part of the lawmaker’s commitment to ensuring that no bright student is denied access to higher education due to financial constraints.

Speaking at the distribution of the JAMB forms on Tuesday, Oseni, who was represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Hakeem Okedina, stressed that the programme was aimed at empowering young people through education.

“Education remains a powerful tool for transformation and the greatest investment we can make in the future of our youth. Last year, we did the same, and even before I contested an election, I had been supporting students for several years. It is part of me to encourage those with potential but lacking financial means to pursue their dreams,” the lawmaker said.

The APC chieftain maintained that his commitment to education was part of his broader vision to uplift young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“I am committed to ensuring that brilliant but indigent students do not have their dreams cut short due to financial challenges. My goal is to give them an opportunity to further their studies,” he added.

Some of the beneficiaries drawn from various communities in the constituency expressed gratitude for the lawmaker’s gesture. One of them, Adeladun Aishat, said, “I was worried about how I would register for JAMB after struggling to write WAEC. Hon. Oseni has given me hope to further my education.”

Parents and community leaders also lauded the initiative, describing it as a significant relief for many families. A parent, Mr. Yusuf Adekunle, said the support had eased the burden on many parents.

“Many students would have been unable to register for JAMB without this assistance. This is a remarkable step toward securing the future of many bright but underprivileged students,” he said.

He called on other public officeholders to emulate the lawmaker’s gesture.

Beyond the annual WAEC and JAMB sponsorships, Oseni, who also chairs the House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), pledged to continue supporting education through scholarships, bursaries, mentorship programmes, school infrastructure, and skill acquisition initiatives.

“My goal is to ensure that every child with a dream gets the opportunity to achieve it,” the lawmaker assured
