…says he holds both leaders in high regard, dismisses ‘Igba Otun’ as faceless mischief makers
The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aderemi Abasi Oseni, has distanced himself from a report credited to a group, Igba Otun, which called on Sen. Teslim Kolawole Folarin and Chief Adelabu Adebayo Adekola to step aside from the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Wednesday, Oseni’s Media Aide, Idowu Ayodele, described the report as “false, malicious, and mischievous.” He emphasised that Oseni holds both APC leaders in high regard and has no involvement in the publication.
“Hon. Oseni has no link with the so-called Igba Otun group and did not commission, endorse, or authorise such divisive publication. This is a clear act of mischief designed by desperate opportunists to create disunity in our party,” the statement said.
The statement further condemned the attempt to drag Oseni’s name into baseless speculations. “He is a man of integrity with a consistent record of clean, issue-based politics. His political journey has been marked by positive contributions, respect for leaders, and collaboration with stakeholders,” it added.
It clarified that Oseni has not declared any governorship ambition. “He remains fully focused on delivering effective representation to his constituents, discharging his legislative duties, and working with all leaders and stakeholders to rebuild and reposition the APC in Oyo State for future victories,” the statement said.
Oseni considers Folarin “an elder brother, political leader and mentor,” while Adelabu is “a younger brother and close friend.”
“The timing of this reckless propaganda—coming shortly after the APC’s by-election setback—shows clearly that its sponsors aim to weaken the party rather than unite it,” the statement noted.
Members of the party and the public were urged to disregard Igba Otun, described as “faceless mischief makers masquerading as agents of unity.”
