The member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, on Wednesday felicitated Muslim and Christian faithful on the commencement of Ramadan and Lent, calling for renewed prayers for Nigeria’s unity and prosperity.

Oseni, who also chairs the House Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), said the simultaneous observance of the two sacred seasons underscored the shared values of sacrifice, discipline, and compassion among Nigerians.

In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Idowu Ayodele, and made available to Journalists in Ibadan, the lawmaker described the period as a time for sober reflection and national rededication.

The statement reads, “The coincidence of Ramadan and Lent is a profound reminder of our common heritage of faith and the enduring values that bind us as one people.

“At a critical time in our national journey, these holy seasons present an opportunity for collective introspection and a renewed commitment to unity, justice, and sustainable development.”

Oseni urged Muslims observing the month-long fast and Christians undertaking Lenten devotions to pray for peace, and stability in the country. According to him, spiritual devotion must be accompanied by acts of love, charity, and support for the vulnerable in society.

“The lessons of self-denial, humility, and service embedded in Ramadan and Lent should guide not only our personal lives but also our leadership culture and civic responsibilities,” the statement added.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive representation and people-centred development in his constituency, while wishing Muslims a rewarding Ramadan and Christians a reflective Lenten season.
