The three points also ensured they became the team with the most points in a single season with 97. That figure beats Chelsea’s 2004-05 Premier League winners by two points.
With just one game left in their brilliant season they could still break some more Premier League records.
They include biggest winning margin, biggest goal difference, assists in a season, fewest draws as well as most away goals in a season.
The match against Brighton was Yaya Toure’s final home game for the club and he said farewell after eight years. Kolo Toure presented his brother with a framed shirt at the end of the game.
