LEGISLATIVE activities of the Oyo State House of Assembly was suspended due to the absence of members at the plenary last Tuesday.
After the opening prayer offered by the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Olagunju Ojo at the plenary, called for the commencement of the legislative activities.
Prior to the Assembly’s business activities, the Chairman, Parliamentary Caucus, Hon Olusegun Ajanaku called the attention of the legislators to the numbers of honourable members present at the plenary.
Nine (9) out of thirty two (32) members attended the plenary which did not form the quorum of the members at the plenary.
The Speaker, Hon Ojo later adjourned the plenary till March 12 saying that this will allow members to participate in the March 9 Governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
In a related development, four members of the Oyo State House Assembly who contested for House of representatives’ seats lost their bids into the green chamber.
Those who fell into the category included, the Speaker, Hon Olagunju Ojo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), his Deputy, Hon Abdulwasi Musah of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon Peter Oyetunji of the Zenith Labour (ZLP) and Hon Kehinde Oloya, who also contested on the platform of the African Democratic Party (ADC).
Other members will also know their fate on March 9, whether they would be among the new members for the 9th Oyo Assembly.
