Fresh facts have emerged as to why Ibadan-based Fuji musician, Alhaji Taiwo Akande Adebisi popularly known as Taye Currency hurriedly removed the billboards he earlier erected to showcase the achievements of the Seyi Makinde – led administration in Oyo state.
Mega Icon Magazine reliably gathered that ‘Taye Currency’ was never appointed either as a Special Adviser, Senior Special Assistant or Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism by Governor Seyi Makinde as earlier claimed, but declared cultural ambassador.
The Fuji artiste had on his verified Instagram page around December 2019 posted: “Big thanks you to His Excellency Enginer @seyi_amakinde , With immense gratitude, let me use this opportunity to register my heart-felt gratitude and sincere appreciation to my Governor Enginer @seyi_amakinde Governor of oyo state, Nigeria, for his positive transformation of oyo state Community.
“Now he also appoint me as the S.A On Culture & tourism at #Tayecurrency@45 I really appreciate this May almighty Allah continue to Strength you more #omituntun247”.
However, sources who spoke with our reporter in confidence informed that the fuji musician was named Cultural Ambassador following his contributions toward the emergence of Governor Makinde during the 2019 governorship elections in Oyo state.
According to them, ” Taye Currency was not given any letter of appointment by the Oyo state government to back up his claim. In fact, as we speak, he has not resumed to any office or participated in any of the government’s functions since last year, except political rallies”.
Speaking further, the sources also disclosed that the government felt rather embarrassed at Taye Currency’s action, thus directed him to remove all the billboards he sponsored which are visible in strategic locations across the state.
Meanwhile, condemnations have continued to trail the sponsored billboards housing the following inscriptions : “Governor Seyi Makinde approved N7.6 million towards Eruwa & Akufo farm settlements in ”, “Governor Seyi Makinde paid N1.1billion to 700 retired primary teachers and local government”, “Governor Seyi Makinde included N300 million in 2020 budget for the television network in Oke Ogun”, “Governor Seyi Makinde declared free education policy for all children “,
