Ramadan: Oyo PDP felicitates with muslims, urges Makinde to ignore needless distraction from critics

The Oyo state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has felicitated with Muslims across the world particularly in Oyo state on the occasion of 1441 Ramadan and appealed to residents not to deviate from the path of the teachings and lessons of the season after celebration.

The Oyo State PDP Chairman, Alh Kunmi Mustapha, the State Secretary, Alh Wasiu Adeleke, and the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Engr Akeem Olatunji, in a press statement co-signed and made available to journalists on Saturday, stated that Muslims should not just see Ramadan as an annual religious exercise but a spiritual engagement aimed at strengthening human relationship with God as well as the society.

According to the statement, the ruling party emphasized on the need to improving interfaith relations in order to promote societal cohesion which will lead to systemic growth in many positive ways.

PDP in Oyo state, stressed that Ramadan as an annual religious exercise will always come and go but the impact of the teachings during Ramadan is what determines an improved inter religious relationship among the people since Nigeria operates a secular state.

The party said that it was laying emphasis on the need for an improved inter religious relationship because it is one key area Nigerian politicians specialized in deploying divisive mechanisms as a political tool aimed at gaining political advantages.

PDP in Oyo state called on all residents regardless of political or religious inclinations to continue to support the government of Oyo state under the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde, stressing that the passion, dedication, and commitment of governor Makinde towards restoring the pacesetter’s glory is unwavering.

The party said that such unwavering commitment by the governor is practically evident in the prompt payment of workers salaries on or before 25th of every month.

“Even though some critics and sadists may want to posit that prompt payment of salaries was not an achievement of government, we would like to emphasize that as hard as they tried to downplay efforts of Makinde led government, the people, particularly state and local government workers who have tasted what it feels like to work so hard and not get paid for several months every fiscal year as it was in the last eight years and to now enjoy improved uninterrupted monthly salaries, appreciate governor Makinde’s commitment to service.” The party said.

Oyo state PDP however, reaffirmed its pride in the bold and giant strides taken by the governor in economic development through Agribusiness, improved healthcare and social security, capital investments in critical infrastructure, as well improved and sustainable sound educational policies in the state.

The party described governor Makinde as an answer to special prayers adding that Oyo state has never had it this good in terms of focused policy direction and sound implementation of economic blueprint.

The party urged governor Makinde to avoid needless distractions emanating from the noise of his detractors stressing that the positive feedback from the residents in Oyo state was an attestation of governor Makinde’s great works and excellent performance.
