A group loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), on Wednesday, distributed food items as palliatives to the less privileged across the 33 local government areas in Oyo state.

Speaking at the symbolic distribution of food items in Oyo town, the National Chairman of SWAGA, Sen. Adedayo Adeyeye said the group felt the hardship being faced by the masses at this trying period, thereby deeming it fit to support the poorest of the poor Nigerians in its little way.

The former minister noted that the gesture was to appreciate Nigerians for their unrelenting support for President Tinubu during the electioneering and to also reassure the masses that he would fulfill all his campaign promises to Nigerians.

He added that Nigeria is on the right track of economic growth and development under President Bola Tinubu, stressing that the present administration in the past three months had made some decisions and policies that would soon turn the fortune of the country for good.

According to him, President Tinubu is a charismatic leader and personality with tremendous leadership traits that will certainly enhance the economic growth of the nation.

The SWAGA chairman urged Nigerians to be patient with the Tinubu-led federal government, reassuring them that the country would soon regain its rightful place in the comity of nations as a result of genuine and positive steps being taken by the government.

Also speaking at the event, the Convener of SWAGA, Mr. Oyetunde Ojo, explained that the palliatives’ distribution by SWAGA would cover South West states, including Kwara, Kogi; and other North Central states where the group presence was strong.

Ojo recalled that SWAGA was inaugurated in 2020 to let Nigerians know that Tinubu was the best candidate who could lead the country on the right track.

He said Nigerians accepted him with their votes to become the nation’s president, “now that Tinubu has become the president, we owned it a duty to appreciate the people.

“We will continue to appreciate them and ensure that all our campaign promises are fulfilled.”

The National Chairperson, of SWAGA palliative distribution, Mrs. Ayo Omidiran, said the group has perfected a plan to ensure that the target beneficiaries get the food items.

Omidiran further explained that the group has representatives across the 33 local government areas of the state who will share the food items with the poorest of the poor in their respective LGAs in the full view of their leaders.

“We have instructed them that the palliative is not meant for SWAGA members only but for the less privileged in their respective local government areas,” she said.

The palliative distribution chairperson noted that many Nigerians were going through a tough time, called on well-meaning individuals and groups to emulate SWAGA and reach out to the less privileged in their respective communities.

The beneficiaries appreciated SWAGA for the gesture, urging the Tinubu-led government to work toward alleviating the plight of Nigerians.

Mrs. Mutiat Shittu and Risikat Adeyemi lauded the group for remembering them after the emergence of Bola Tinubu as President.

Shittu said the group has started fulfilling its promises made during the campaign and that they were motivated.

Adeyemi, who noted that many Nigerians were hungry, said the food items would go a long way in addressing the hunger being faced by the beneficiaries.

On her part, Adeola Adeniran, another beneficiary, said she was surprised to see that SWAGA returned to Oyo State to appreciate them after the general election.

Adeniran promised that the group has renewed the hope of the masses in the administration of President Tinubu.
