The Premier League is set to trial VAR this season with it being tested as soon as the current international break is over, it has been claimed.
Following a successful outing at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Video assistant referee technology is now being used in the top leagues in Italy and Spain.
According to Sky Sports, the Premier League want to trial it in 15 games.
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) want to prove the system works and will present their findings to Premier League shareholders next year.
The aim is to then fully introduce the technology for the start of next season.
To see if the VAR hub at Sockley Park, near Heathrow, can cope with the rigorous demands of multiple Premier League matches, the technology will first be used on September 15 for five 3pm kick-offs.
However, there will be no communication between the VAR team and the officials running the games.
The system was used last season in some Carabao Cup games, and largely had a positive outcome.
VAR will also be tested in some FA Cup games.
