Amid fun and fare, the indigenes of Lalupon town in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo state on Friday organised a special prayer for the former Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede popularly known as Lafi.

The ex-Oyo lawmaker and council boss, Hon. Lafisoye  who was alleged to have involved in the death of the former House of Representatives member, Hon. Temitope Olatoye Sugar on the 9th March, 2019 during the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly election, was discharged and acquitted by a High Court sitting in Ibadan alongside three others last week Thursday.

But the Imams and Alfas, the youths, traditional rulers, political leaders, and other indigenes of Lalupon organised the prayer at the Lalupon Central mosque, to thank Almighty Allah for vindicating him of the allegation against him and bringing him back to them hale and hearty.

The prayer session was well attended by the traditional rulers in Lagelu Local Government led by the Onilalupon of Lalupon, Oba Munirudeen Arigbabuwo Adekunle Agbejinmi I, the Elejioku of Ejioku, Onile igbon of Ile igbon and other traditional members.

The three elected chairmen in Lagelu Local Government and LCDAs, Hon. Lekan Afuye, Hon. Shina Alabi, Alhaja Mariam Folake Akinmoyede, Hon. Lafisoye’s wife, family members, friends and well wishers also witnessed the event.

The Chief Imam of Lalupon Central mosque, Sheikh Waliyulahi Otegbeye in his sermon explained why it was necessary for all politicians to have the fear of Allah in everything they were doing bearing in mind that one day they will give account of their stewardship.

While thanking Allah for absolving Lafisoye of the allegation levelled against him, Sheikh Waliyulahi described him as a well cultured politician with large heart, who embraces all and can never involved in any do or die politics not to talk of killing a fellow human being.

In his own remarks, the Onilalupon of Lalupon, Oba Munirudeen Arigbabuwo Adekunle said that he decided to stand as surety for Hon Lafisoye when he was admitted to bail in the police custody having convinced that he had no hand in the murder of Hon. Temitope Olatoye Sugar that he was accused of.

Speaking in the same vein, wife of Hon. Lafisoye, Alhaja Mariam Folake Akinmoyede thanked all the people that stood by the family during the travail of her husband and pray God Almighty to absolve all the people who are in same similar circumstances like her husband before he was vindicated.

While expressing his appreciation to the Lalupon indigenes and others for giving him such a rousy welcome back since 9th March, 2019 the last time he visited his home town, Hon. Lafisoye disclosed that he has decided to step aside from politics for now because he cannot continue to participate in active politics while still mourning the death of his close friend, Hon.
