In a major operation, Joint Security Forces successfully uncovered an illicit gun manufacturing syndicate operating out of a hidden factory in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

This remarkable operation led to the seizure of a wide array of weapons, including combat gear, and dealt a significant blow to the ongoing security challenges in Southern Kaduna and neighboring regions.

Sources within Operation Safe Haven revealed that the breakthrough came after a week-long intelligence operation carried out by troops of Hakorin Damisa IV.

They managed to apprehend a wanted gunrunner who had long been on the radar of Operation Safe Haven for alleged security breaches in Southern Kaduna and surrounding areas.

This apprehended suspect crucially cooperated with authorities, leading them to the clandestine arms factory where various weapons were being produced and supplied to crisis merchants in Kaduna and Plateau states.

A meticulous search of the concealed factory yielded a staggering haul of twenty-two weapons, which included seven pistols, two locally fabricated AK 47 rifles, two military-grade AK 47 rifles, and nine revolvers.

The cache of confiscated items didn’t stop there; it also encompassed a submachine gun, rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, machine tools, and a gas cylinder used for welding.

In a separate sting operation, security forces conducted a raid on a hideout in Adua village, Kafanchan, which resulted in the recovery of more weapons, military and police uniforms, masks, and an assortment of other dangerous weapons.

Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, praised the unwavering determination and resilience of the troops involved.

He assured the public that all fleeing syndicate members would be pursued, arrested, and held accountable under the law, signaling a significant stride towards enhancing regional security.
