PHOTOS: Aleshinloye resumes at Oluyole LG, sues for peace

The Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State Chapter, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, on Wednesday appealed for calm and understanding from the people of the local government over the on-going face off between the association and Governor Seyi Makinde.

Abass-Aleshinloye stated this while addressing the people and security operatives when he resumed at his office in Oluyole local government area of the state.

He commended the security operatives on ground for maintaining peace in the council areas and said the association will continue to stand by the rule of law.

Some chairmen, vice chairmen, councilors and other political appointees also resumed as directed by ALGON.

Most of the local government headquarters visited by our reporter, which included Ibadan Southwest, Ido, Ibadan South East among others  are securely locked, with presence of heavy security and absence of local government workers.

ALGON, had earlier directed  that  all the Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and Councillors that are democratically elected, including political appointees to resume to their duty post and respective offices, today.

It said the directive was in compliance with the Judgement of Oyo State High Court dated the 6th May, 2018 and the subsisting Judgement of the Supreme Court of Nigeria which guaranteed the tenure of office of democratically elected local government councils.
ALGON gave the directive on Tuesday following the caretaker chairmen and sole administrators list sent to the Oyo State House of Assembly by Governor Seyi Mkinde on Monday  for screening and confirmation.
According to our reporter, there was peace and calmness in all the councils visited, as the security operatives were in charge of the situation.
