The bizarre world of Patrice Evra’s Instagram took a step towards the outright deranged on Halloween night as he celebrated the holiday with a performance that would have left his followers suitably freaked out.
Marseille’s left-back has grown a huge following for his vibrant and enthusiastic performances on social media, which just this week included an impersonation of music legend James Brown.
But things turned a lot darker on Tuesday evening as he appeared covered in what we can only hope is fake blood and preceded to lick a plastic machete while surrounded by carved pumpkins.
Fittingly, one of the pumpkins has been expertly manipulated to read ‘I love this game’ which, for one reason or another, has become Evra’s catchphrase in recent months.
Although seeming to spend most of his time creating unique content for Instagram, Evra still plies his trade on a football pitch and helped Marseille to a 1-0 win at Lille on Sunday to take them up to fourth place in the table.
The 36-year-old, who has won multiple league titles with Juventus and Manchester United during a successful career, has played four times in Ligue 1 and a twice more in the Europa League.
But his football career appeared to be the last thing on his mind this Halloween as he joined the likes of Neymar and NBA megastar LeBron James in dressing up for the occasion.
The Paris Saint-Germain star died his hair green while James displayed a strikingly accurate portrayal of Pennywise the clown from Stephen King’s hit novel-turned-movie ‘IT’.
Nothing appears to have trumped Evra’s display for sheer freakishness, however.
