Oyo: Supreme Court Ends 21- Year Royal Reign, Sacks Eleruwa, Oba Adegbola

The Supreme Court on Friday  sacked a traditional ruler in Oyo State, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola. After 21 years on the throne, the apex court also declared vacant the stool of the popular custodian of culture.

Oba Adegbola, who had earlier been removed by an Oyo State High Court on January 26, 2011 but not satisfied, further appealed the judgement.

Unfortunately,  in 2011, Justice Ladipo Abimbola of the appellate court affirmed that the processes that brought the monarch to the throne were irregular, just as he declared them null and void; thereby ordering that Oba Adegbola should vacate the seat.

But dissatisfied with the judgement, the Monarch later approached the Supreme Court which has now sacked the former monarch, Oba Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa.
