Oyo Senator Finally Joins Governorship Race

SENATOR representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Alhaji Abdulfatai Buhari has joined the race to secure Oyo governorship ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the 2019 election.

The lawmaker, who has served a term representing Ogbomoso North/South/Orire federal constituency in the Assembly, and also served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters in Oyo state is currently the Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime.

Buhari made this declaration on Monday
while paying a courtesy visit to the APC state executive council members at the party’s State Secretariat, Oke Ado in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Receiving Senator Buhari and his entourage, the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Chief Akin Oke disclosed that the party is ready to ensure level playing ground for all its members aspiring for elective positions in 2019.

Chief Oke reemphasised that the party is open for every member and will at all times allow free, fair and credible primary elections for all aspirants.
“At the party level, we have agreed that no member of the exco or state working committee should campaign or openly support any aspirants”, said Oke.

He boasted that APC is determined to ensure victory in 2019 as none of the opposing parties in the state have the capacity to match the party, adding that other APC governorship aspirants including Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan and Engineer Yunus Akintude out of over 30 people have visited the party to declare their ambition to vie for governorship in 2019.

Remarking, Senator Buhari tasked the APC executives not to relent on their efforts aims at positioning the party for victory in the coming elections in and across the state.

The lawmaker while assuring the party of continued support, commended its leadership for holding forth and ensuring the party is intact till date.
