AN agency conceived and conceptualized to help protect and ensure safety of lives and property, Oyo State Security Trust Fund on Wednesday launched its Safety Education Initiative in schools in order to awaken security consciousness in students across the state.
Hundreds of students were taught against social vices including drug abuse, rape, cultism, kidnapping among others; that could degenerate into security situations.
The first phase of the programme, which is to run from October to December will involve interactive sessions with thousands of students from 100 schools in the state.
The pilot scheme of the programme took place at Abadina Grammar School and Ajibode Grammar school in Ibadan, the state capital.
Oyo State Security Trust Fund was supported by Heritage Bank for the kick off of the first phase.
The State Security Trust Fund which aims at assisting security agencies to deliver better services had earlier repaired more than 200 Security vans and made donations of communication equipments, tyres and batteries to security agencies in the state.
