Oyo residents commend government on road reconstruction.

Ibadan residents and owners of properties as well as structures on the Eleyele – Eruwa road have commended the Oyo State Government for embarking on the reconstruction of the road.

Speaking at the stakeholders meeting preceding the commencement of the road project which was attended by state government representatives from Justice, Lands, Works and Transport Ministries, landlords and residents of the Ologun Eru area; the location of road project including representatives of the contractor that will handle the project, the residents through their spokesperson, Pa Oyedoyin Adewuyi appreciated the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi for keeping to his promise to reconstruct the road.

Pa Adewuyi, whose property would be affected by the reconstruction of the road, expressed the appreciation of residents, landlords and the business community in the area over the project emphasizing the benefits of roads in development.

He said, “the award of the contract shows that the Ajimobi government is responsive to the plight of the citizens and people living in this area. Any responsible government should always respond to the developmental needs of the people. We know that development is very costly but we will all enjoy it,” he noted.

Remarking , the State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr. Wasiu Dauda explained that the government considered the road and other roads as a necessity, stressing that despite the competing demands from other sectors and the dwindling economy, the present administration has prioritized infrastructural development.

“Governor Ajimobi has deemed it fit to forge ahead in carrying out road construction and rehabilitation all over the state to alleviate the sufferings of the people who are plying bad roads. Our administration is committed to people oriented projects and we will not relent in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people,” the commissioner added.

He, also commended the people of the area for their cooperation towards the project by doing self-demolition of the affected structures, saying that their commitment has showed their readiness to the execution of the road project.

Mr. Dauda assured that the project will be completed at the duration of eighteen months and consequently promised that a top quality job would be done as the people of the area have been clamouring for the road’s reconstruction and rehabilitation.

Contributing, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Oyesola Oyedele, however urged the residents to cooperate with the contractor for the success of the project.
