The Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency on Thursday witnessed another significant milestone in economic empowerment as Hon. (Prince) Akinmoyede Olafisoye Wasiu, the lawmaker representing the constituency at the House of Representatives, facilitated a massive employment opportunity for his people.
Over 1000 constituents benefited from his 5th empowerment programme in just five months.
The event, held at Community Grammar School, Alegongo, Akobo-Ojurin area, saw the distribution of a wide range of resources, including 10 brand new tricycles (popularly known as Keke Marwa), sewing machines, and grinding machines.
Also, fertilisers, spraying machines, herbicides, pesticides, and knapsack sprayers were provided in collaboration with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization, targeting rural farmers in selected communities within the Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency.
Speaking at the event, Olafisoye expressed his commitment to ensuring the self-reliance of his constituents, noting that this drive inspired his various empowerment programmes.
“My vision is to make sure that our people are supported to stand on their own,” said the lawmaker, who also chairs the House Committee on Nigeria/Mexico Parliamentary Friendship.
He urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the tools and resources provided, promising continued support and impactful representation for the people of Akinyele/Lagelu.
Several beneficiaries, including Mr. Opeyemi Gbolagade, Joshua Oyebamiji, Fatai Awoyoola, and Afeez Olusara, expressed deep appreciation for the lawmaker’s efforts. They noted that no lawmaker who had represented the constituency since 1999 had shown such dedication and delivered tangible benefits like he has.
The empowerment event was graced by prominent figures including Senator Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), Hon. Kamorudeen Mudashiru (Executive Chairman, Lagelu LGA), Hon. Wole Akinleye (Executive Chairman, Akinyele LGA), and Alhaji Olanite (APC State Secretary). They lauded Hon. Other dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Omotayo Oyetunji, Hon. Murphy Adigun, Col. Peter Omotosho, and Hon. Shina Alabi, all of whom encouraged the beneficiaries to leverage the equipment they received to improve their livelihoods.
