THE Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Oyo State has directed her members to distance themselves from the Saturday local government elections in Oyo State.

According to the party, the purported local government elections from all indications has failed integrity test and a complete mockery of democracy due to the undemocratic remarks of OYSIEC Chairman on a radio program that he is not bound to obey Court Order as regards the conduct of tomorrow’s council elections.

The party made this call at the end of her State Working Committee meeting held at its office located at Molete in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Also, the party stressed that it is against the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for a State electoral body to delineate wards which is the statutory responsibility of Boundary Adjustment Commission, it will therefore amounted to legalizing an illegality if PDP should participate.

“PDP as a party will never circumvent the constitution because it will lay a bad precedence. It baffles the right thinking citizens that a government that refused to conduct local government elections for the past seven years citing cases instituted in court would now insisted on conducting LG elections at a time critical stakeholders are crying foul with four different cases in court.

“The party wishes to urge electorates to boycott the local government poll on Saturday because if an ordinary Ward Congress of APC could result to violence and infliction of injuries on their own party members and passersby, it will be suicidal and wasteful venture to participate in an elections of which its outcome is an effort in futility.

“To the good people of Oyo State and even majority of APC leaders apart from Governor Ajimobi faction of the party knows quite well that the foundation of the local government elections is being erected on sand and can’t stand the test of time”, the party submitted
