OYO State Government through its Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in partnership with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have come up with strategic plans and implementations to engender sustainable development in the state’s educational sector.
Speaking last week Friday to end a three day expanded stakeholders’ meeting on implementation of 2018 State Engagement Plan (SEP) held between Wednesday and Friday, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela described the meeting as one of the effective strategies for the plan’s implementation.
He said the state government had earlier implemented several strategies and policies over the years in the quest for quality and functional education targeted at transforming the state industrialized and self-reliant community in the nation.
According to him, “stakeholders across the globe had always been clamouring for a comprehensive and adequate planning which is schematic and forms the blueprint of programme implementation during a timeline. The argument is that investment in terms of budgeting should be aligned with operational strategy thus forming a roadmap and emerging source of competitive advantage.
” Implementation is the process that turns strategies and plans into action if objectives and goals of such plans are to be accomplished. Consequently, successful implementation of action plan is a great step in taking State Engagement Plan to the next higher level”, he stated.
While thanking the state governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi for his transformational initiatives in the states’ education, he commended the sector’s collaborators, notably UNICEF and State Planning Commission for the unflinching supports especially on Conduct of Annual School Census and others.
Also, the UNICEF representative and an education specialist, Mr. Murtala Muhammed highlighted the benefits of the meeting to the state’s educational sector.
He said participants will have a better understanding of the use of State Engagement Planning on Basic and Secondary Schools; make participants have their knowledge updated on the developed SEP; getting relevant skills required to gain favour of stakeholders, especially the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary towards the implementation of SEP; and proffer best practices as well as the way forward for maximum outcomes in education service delivery in the state.
