Oyo: Lekan Are goes home on February 21

The remains of prominent Ibadan indigene and renown Agronomist, Dr Lekan Ayokunnu Are will be committed to mother earth on Friday 21, 2020.

According to the statement signed  by the Funeral planning committee Chairman, Dr Kolade Mosuro, in Ibadan  indicates that the real burial rites start on Thursday, February 20,2020 with the Lying-in-state on the premises of Kakanfo Inn between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm before the Wake keep at the same venue from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

These two events are to be capped up with “Night of Tributes” strictly by the Old Students Association of Government College from 6:00 pm inside the Lekan Are Hall of the school.

The release further indicates that the burial convoy would make a brief stop-over at Oke Are family house with to be followed with a moderate royal ceremony between 9:00 – 9:30 am on Friday 21 before church service and burial later at the St. David’s Church, Kudeti, Ibadan.

Receptions shall follow immediately at these venues.

Dr Lekan Ayokunnu Are, 86, died on Saturday 18th January, 2020 at the University College Hospital, after brief illness.

Meanwhile, all efforts are geared towards giving a befitting burial to this great family icon.

One of it, is the choice of Aso Ebi (Ankara) as uniform for All Are Latoosa family members irrespective of age or class.
