Oyo lawmaker tasks youths, students on academic standard.

The Parliamentary Caucus Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Ajanakun, has charged the youths and students in the state to be more dedicated to their academic pursuit in order to move ahead and record successes.

Receiving students who shone at a letter writing competition organised by Onelife Initiative for Human Development at the Assembly Complex, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, the lawmaker reiterated that there was no an alternative route to excellence but hard work and dedication.

The competition, which was organised by the New Bodija-based non-governmental organization, ‘Onelife Initiative’, with funding from Youthub Africa was to sensitize Oyo State residents on the implementation of the child rights law.

The competition involved letter writing to the Governor on what the kids desire to be done and what they would do if they were in power.

The students who did their schools and themselves proud in the competition were Asaolu Romoluwa from Grace Field Private School, Bodija who came first in the primary school category; Ajayi Eyitayo from Adesina College, Alagbayun came first in the secondary school category while Amori Oluwadarasimi from All Souls’ High School, Bodija was the first runner-up in the secondary school category.

The All Progressives Congress legislator said the award received by the pupils would serve as a motivation for others,urging them to continue shining in their academy.

The ranking parliamentarian charged youths and other students to borrow a leaf from their performance.

Stressing the essence of commitment to learning, he pointed out that those who learnt today would lead tomorrow.

Lauding Onelife Initiative for Human Development for the concept where Mr. Sola Fagoruai is the Programme Media Officer, Ajanaku remarked that it was an excellent idea, just as he urged the NGO to sustain the idea. The lawmaker, however appealed to other well-to-do in the society to emulate such baronial gesture.
