The Oyo State Government has been warned to stay off a disputed parcel of land along the Total Garden–NTA–Government House axis of Ibadan following a subsisting interlocutory injunction issued by the Oyo State High Court.
The caution was contained in a legal notice issued by Adebayo & Gbadamosi, counsel to the claimant in a pending suit against the Attorney General of Oyo State before the High Court of Justice, Oyo State.
According to the notice, the land remains the subject of ongoing litigation, and an interlocutory injunction granted on June 30, 2025, restraining the state government from interfering with the property, “subsists till date.”
The law firm warned that any action by the Oyo State Government, its agents, servants, or privies in defiance of the court order would amount to contempt of court.
“Any move and or attempt by the Government of Oyo State, its agents, servants, and or privies to flout the order of the court shall be contemptuous of the court and the same shall be met with appropriate sanctions,” the notice stated.
The notice, dated January 19, 2025, was signed by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Asiwaju Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, on behalf of the firm.
The lawyers urged the state government and members of the public to take due notice of the subsisting court order and refrain from any act capable of undermining the authority of the court pending the determination of the suit.
