Oyo govt honours Ola Akande, named road after him

THE popular Bashorun-Ashi, Bodija road has been named Reverend S T Ola Akande way by the Oyo state government.

Reverend Samuel Titilola Olayinka Akande was honoured by the state government for his contributions to the development of Oyo state and Nigeria.

In his remarks, the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Bimbo Kolade who delivered the message of Governor Abiola Ajimobi at the programme said government recognized the efforts of Reverend Ola Akande in the Nation building hence the need for naming the Bashorun-Ashi- Bodija road after him.

According to Mr Kolade, the present administration under Governor Abiola Ajimobi will continue to appreciate meaningful contributions of sons and daughters of the state for the advancement of the country.

The Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government, Alhaji Bashiru Adegoke said naming of Ashi road to Rev S T Ola Akande was an unanimous decision by the residents and landlords of the area.

The council boss said the honour bestowed on Rev Ola Akande will also ginger some indigenes and residents to contribute their quota to the progress of the state.

The Chairman Ibadan North Local Government Traditional Council, Oba Abimbola Ajibola described Rev Ola Akande as good ambassador of the state and Nigeria

In his address, Rev Dr.Samuel Ola Akande said he will forever be grateful to God and Oyo state government for the honour.
