Oyo Governor – Elect, Makinde Unfolds Plans

Oyo state newly elected governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde on Tuesday unfolds his master plan to improve the living standard of the people of the state just as he assured that his administration would adhered strictly to the rules of law in its policies and programmes.

Makinde who spoke at a local radio station in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital reassured that he would run a transparent administration.

On education, the governor elect reaffirmed total cancellation of all sorts of levies in all primary and secondary schools asserting that he enjoyed free education.

On LAUTECH, he promised to look into previous white papers and recommendations on the institution to make it a pride to the state and the entire people of the state.

Makinde also stated that for LAUTECH to be properly settled, all stakeholders including students, lecturers and the leaders of thought as well as community leaders in the city to make the school more vibrant . He assured that LAUTECH Fees would be reviewed downward from May 29 this year to make it more bearable and affordable.

On local government administration, Makinde insisted that the current political holders in the state would have to leave office if there was a court judgement against its conduct in the first instance.  The newly elected governor pointed out that the Oke Ogun axis of the state would be a special Zone as Ikere Gorge Dam and other Dams in the state would be made more functional to improve Agriculture in the state.

“As far as I am concerned, my focus is to regenerate the economy and make life more worthy of living for the populace.I am going to be proactive and up and doing in all manners”, he added.

Makinde revealed that his administration would commence payment of staff salaries on the 25th of every month saying, “I am a servant leader .No political appointees would take salary until civil servants were paid”.

On Sports, the New Governor promised to resuscitate and truly develop sports in the state through conscious efforts and policies.
