The Commissioner representing Oyo state at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela, has urged the youths in the State to take active steps whenever there is any recruitment exercise to avert lopsidedness.

Olowofela, who expressed concern over the disinterested posture by the youths, said, was evident in the ongoing Police recruitment exercise as mostly northerners applied to join the service, also called for the active involvement of the Local Government Chairmen in the State.

He stated this  in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Wednesday during his monitoring of the exercise at the State Police Command Headquarters Eleyele.

The former Oyo Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology harped on the need for the citizens to be sensitized, urging them to report any imbalance to the states’ representatives.

“Our Commission was established to avert lopsidedness and there is virtually no agency that wants to give people job that will not  invite us at the FCC. The basis for inviting us is to ensure that the principle is followed. There are parameters which the FCC has set for every state of the federation, thus our employable youths must take active steps whenever there is any recruitment exercise (s)”, Olowofela counseled.

The FCC Commissioner added, “We must raise alarm, our council chairmen must encourage upright and responsible citizens to apply for recruitment, because most young persons in this part of the country are already graduates and employable, we must take advantage of this opportunity “.
