Oyo deputy speaker, Musah, 8 others defect to ADC

THE Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Abdulwasih Musah has officially announced his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the floor of the house.

Hon Musah defected to ADC alongside other 8 honourable members through the letter read by the clerk of the house, Barrister Paul Bankole at the floor of the house on Tuesday.

The members include, Hon Lukman Balogun of the Labour Party (LP),Hon Bolaji Badmus (APC), Hon Biliamin (Accord Party) and Hon Ganiyu Oseni (APC)

Others are Hon Olusegun Olaleye (APC), Hon Samson Oguntade (Accord Party), Hon Muideen Olagunju (Accord Party) and Hon Afeez Adeleke (APC).

With the defection of 9 members from their previous political parties to African Democratic Congress, the party now has 12 members against the ruling APC with 18 members and Peoples Democratic Party clinched 2 members at the Oyo Assembly.

In another development, Hon Olusegun Olaleye representing Ibadan North II called for financial bailout and improved subvention to Oyo State tertiary institutions.

Hon Olaleye noted that the speedy approval of bail out fund to these institutions is necessary so as to prevent them from total collapse.

In their separate contributions, the Speaker, Hon Olagunju Ojo and some members emphasized on the need for government to take proactive steps by improving subvention given to the tertiary institutions in the state for the advancement of education sector.

Also the Chairman, Parliamentary Council, Hon Olusegun Ajanaku presented a motion on the need to renovate the Obafemi Awolowo stadium for improved services.

The motion co- sponsored by Hon Olusegun Ajanaku and Hon Fatai Adesina enjoined federal government to hand over the management of the stadium to the state for proper restoration and maximum utilization for promotion of sporting activities.

The house, in their unanimous decision urged Federal government to allow the state government to take over the maintenance of the stadium.
