OYO State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Customary Court bill, 2017 into law after scaling through the third reading.
The House passed the bill into law following the presentation of report of Hon. Olukayode Akande, the Chairman, House Committee on Judicial and Justice that considered the Customary Court Bill, 2007.
Also, after the report of the committee, the house constituted itself into the committee of the whole chaired by Hon Michael Adeyemo to critically examined the bill clause by clause before it was finally passed into law.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Gaming Bill,2018 and Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2018 was read for the second time at the plenary.
The Gaming Bill 2018 is a bill for a law to repeal the Gaming, Betting and lottery laws of Oyo state to make provision for Gaming law and other matters connected with, while that of Road Traffic Management Authority (Amendment) bill 2018 is a law to amend Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority law, 2019.
Speaking on the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, (Amendment) bill 2018, Hon Wumi Oladeji, who sponsored the bill urged the house to give the bill proper consideration.
After extensive deliberation by lawmakers, the speaker, Hon Michael Adeyemo later forwarded the two bills to their respective committees for further consideration.
Also, the Oyo State Law Enforcement and Monitoring Agency Bill scaled through the first reading at the floor of the house.
Prior to the adjournment of the plenary, the Speaker, Hon Michael Adeyemo on behalf of the Oyo 8th Assembly condemned the incident that happened in the Senate on Wednesday during the plenary.
The Speaker lamented further that the attack was a slap to Nigeria nascent democracy, just as he called for proper prosecution of those that masterminded the act.
The house has adjourn plenary till Tuesday, 24th April , 2018.
