Also, they have kick-started moves to hold consultations with key members of the party including former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Mega Icon Magazine exclusively gathered.
The APC chieftains, comprising the immediate past Deputy governor, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, former Senator Adesoji Akanbi, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, Mr. Lasun Adebunmi, Alhaji Mufutau Gbayawu, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan, Alhaji Waheed Olajide, Senator Ayo Adeseun among others who met recently in Ibadan , the state capital have expressed grief over the defeat of the party which they attributed to internal division, wrangling, acrimony and imposition of candidates against the wishes of other aspirants and members.
While describing the APC monumental loss as an expression of members’ disapproval, self-inflicted pains, the party faithful also noted that they would not fold their hands and watch their members gradually decamp to other parties because of lack of faith in the survival of the party under the present structure.
They disclosed further, “in the 137 wards housed by 11 local governments in Ibadanland, the party ( APC ) failed woefully and unable to deliver a single ward. We also had a deficit of 78,000 votes in 5 local governments within the Ibadan city”, adding that their resolve to rebrand the party in line with its original vision and mission informed their actions.

“The idea was to reassure our members of the resolve of the party to turn a new leaf and restore the party to its original vision and mission.
“We intend to meet other key stakeholders, members, to intimate them on the present situation and the efforts being made to reposition the party.
“We intend to go back to the core values of the party, so that genuine reconciliation can be achieved. We want to make sure that thing becomes as it should. Some mistakes were made where due process was not followed in many things, all these things are to be corrected.
“So we believe that the ways of doing things such that people’s confidence will be restored to the party and for them to support the party to take over power again. For Oyo APC to achieve this, we believe that everybody is important”, they submitted.
The APC stakeholders, however emphasized that the meeting was centred on the unity and progress of the party in Oyo state, and not for any political ambition.
The meeting also had in attendance Forum of Aspirants, former State House of Assembly members, Forum of Local Government Chairmanship and Councillorship Aspirants.
