The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ibarapa East/Ido federal constituency, Engr Aderemi Oseni, has restated his commitment to tackling youths’ restiveness and unemployment in the constituency through the market on-demand Digital Skill Acquisition Programme to discourage the scourge of ritual killings and get-rich-quick syndrome.
Oseni, who put the total number of youths already captured in the first phase of the programme at over one thousand, in a statement by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, on Wednesday, said his main purpose of the training programme is to ensure that no fewer than one thousand youths are taken out of joblessness in each of the three centres within a short period.
According to the statement, the youths are being trained in Digital Marketing, Graphics Design, Product Design, Data Science, Web Development, and Passive Income Blue Print among others.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the unveiling of the first phase of the programme at Apete, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo state last Saturday, Oseni assured that the training will fully equip the youths with needed manpower towards self-development and sustainability.
The businessman cum Clergy further disclosed that another centre of the Youth Digital Skill Acquisition Programme is situated at Owode, while another one is located at Eruwa to serve the youths at Ibarapa East Local Government Area of the state.
Oseni added that he is fully committed to arming the army of youths with useful skills to afford them the opportunity to contribute positively to the socio-political and economic development of society.
Recalling the multiplier effect of the ICT centre, he donated to the Engineering Department, Polytechnic, Ibadan in 2008, the APC candidate was hopeful that the three Digital Skills Acquisition Centres in his constituency would go a long way to make the beneficiaries self-reliance and productive in Information Technology industry.
He reassured that the beneficiaries would not only be trained during the programme but would also be developed until they become successful in their chosen career.
He hinted that what is being accomplished now is a shadow of the greater things to occur, adding that when elected in the forthcoming general election, the people of Ibarapa East/Ido federal Constituency will witness true dividends of democracy as never before.
Present at the event are top leaders of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Ido Local Government Area of the state, led by the Oyo state Representative on the Federal Character Commission ( FCC) Abuja, and a former Commissioner of Education, Professor Joseph Adeniyi Olowofela , a respected leader of the party in the local government.
Others present are students, technocrats, artisans, traders and members of the organised labour in the state.
At the venue of the Youth Digital Skill Acquisition Programme, Apete , Ibadan on Saturday, many of the youths who spoke with journalists were full of praises for the APC House of Representatives candidate for coming up with the laudable idea to assist the teeming jobless youths in the society.
“We are indeed praying and working to ensure that this man, Engr Oseni is elected into the House of Representatives by next year because he truly loves the people. He is too compassionate about the plight of the people. Unlike what we used to have in those elected in the past.
”Look at what he is doing, building bridges, giving electricity by procuring transformers to communities and investing in the youths. No one has ever done this before, like this scale. It has never happened before ”, a young lady and a beneficiary, Monsurat Adeyemo said.
Just a few months ago, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate, Engr Oseni commenced works on the Ologuneru and Aretu bridges in Ibadan communities to ease the movement of people, goods and services.
