Oyo APC Rep Candidate, Oseni to expend N100m on Gbelede, Aretu bridges in Ido LG

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Engr. Aderemi Oseni plans to spend about N100 million on the construction of Gbelede and Aretu bridges in Ido Local Government area of Oyo state.

Apart from his various intervention projects and programmes which have given a new lease of life to the constituents, the clergy cum businessman has commenced the construction of N30million Ologuneru bridge linking no fewer than seven communities.

The bridge nearing completion is expected to be commissioned in the next few weeks by Sen. Teslim Folarin, the party’s governorship candidate in the state.

Oseni, who disclosed this in a release by his media office in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Sunday added that the two bridges when completed would not only reduce the plight of commuters but put a stop to unnecessary loss of lives.

According to him, he opted to construct the bridges for the benefit of his constituents, stressing that the construction of the bridges, other projects and programmes embarked on were to alleviate the sufferings of the people.

The Gbelede River

The statement read, “residents of Igisogba, in Omi-Adio and Onidoko communities, are having mobility constraints due to the deplorable condition of the roads. They were neglected by both the local and state governments despite several efforts made to seek government assistants.

“The Gbelede bridge linking Oyo and Ogun states housed by Ward 10 has caught off more than one hundred and twenty eight villages from having free access to the major markets, in the neighbourhood, hence impoverishing the communities. The people wonder whether Oyo State and Ido Local Governments are deliberately punishing them as the villagers have become “Endanger Homo-Sapiens.

“Similarly, the Aretu bridge to be constructed will be motorable and have a minimum life span of 50 years before any repair if any. In this community with over two thousand dwellers, there is, however, no constructed bridge linking that community.

The Aretu River

“Unfortunately, the Aretu river which has killed more than five people, including landlords, in the last two years, has now become a nightmare to the residents of Igisogba community, Omi-Adio especially whenever it rains due to the insensitivity of the government.

“At a meeting recently, the leadership of the two communities narrated their nasty experiences with me, efforts made so far and how they were abandoned by the government. We have inspected these bridges alongside the contractor that will handle the jobs, necessary tests have been conducted and by the grace of God the suffering is going to be a thing of the past.

“I am committing about N100million to the two projects, I am happy doing it for my people because their welfare is my topmost priority”, it concluded.

While commending Landlord Associations for their efforts so far, without waiting on the government, he also urged the residents to show interest in developing their communities.

Meanwhile, Oseni has further assured the constituents of credible, purposeful and quality representation if elected to the green chamber in 2023.
