Ahead of the next general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state has announced its plans to stage a massive rally and street walk on Tuesday to garner support for all its candidates including Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kassim Shettima, the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates respectively.
This announcement was made by the state chairman of APC, Hon. Isaac Omodewu, during a strategic meeting held with all pro-Tinubu/Shettima groups at the Oke-Ado, Ibadan secretariat of the party.
The meeting had in attendance about 150 different support groups as each of them was represented by their state coordinators and secretaries.
In his remarks; the state party chairman, Omodewu, who was represented by the state secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite, expressed optimism about the success of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Project .
“in view of the huge population of patriots who have endorsed it. Everywhere you go today in most part of the country, you would see that Nigerians are indeed ready to vote Asiwaju as the next President.
“And to buttress this assertion, the number of of eminent citizens and genuine voters who have mobilised themselves to form various support groups for Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Project is incredible as evident in our gathering here today. In the last few days, we have attended to more than two hundred different groups who are more than ready to mobilize voters for the APC candidates. We are indeed grateful to all of you for this patriotic act.” He stated.
Oyo APC’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, had earlier informed the gathering about the plan to stage what he described as a Mega Rally and Road Walk across the state capital on Tuesday (October 4, 2022) to flag off the electioneering campaigns for Tinubu-for-President campaign as well as mobilise support for all the three senatorial and 14 House of Representatives candidates of the party in the state.
His words; “The leadership of Oyo APC has concluded arrangement on the Mega Rally with which we are officially flagging off our campaigns in the state. Our three senatorial candidates including Sen. Abdufatai Buhari (Oyo North), Barr. Sarafadeen Alli (Oyo South) and Dr. Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central) as well as all the 14 House of Representatives candidates would be led by our gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Teslim Folarin, to participate in the exercise.
“We therefore use this opportunity to invite all support groups who have indicated their interest to work for Sen. Bola Tinubu and running mate, Sen. Kassim Shettima, to win next year presidential election and also charge you to start grassroots campaigns with a view to securing the nod of the voting populace for all APC candidates.” Sadare said.
Alhaja Aminat Adeyemi-Opatunde who represented all Ibadan market traders at the meeting promised the overwhelming support of market men and women across the state to the cause of all APC candidates who she described as those needed to drive Nigeria to her next level.
Also, the coordinator of Non-Indigene Support Group for Tinubu and Teslim Folarin, Mrs Ngozi Amakwu, assured that her group would leave no stone unturned to mobilize for Sen. Tinubu and other APC candidates.
“We are poised to work for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to be President of Nigeria in 2023 because we believe Nigeria would be better under him. Meanwhile, we want to appeal to the leadership of the APC to look into the issue of constant harassment and molestation of innocent citizens by some political thugs, especially around major streets and motor parks. Some miscreants believed to be working for the PDP are in the habit of attacking our people who adorn anything with APC logo and this must stop.” Mrs Ngozi added.
