Oyo APC Crisis: Grant Akala’s Reconciliation Committee A Chance, Olowofela Urges Aggrieved Members

The Commissioner representing Oyo state at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela has called on aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to give former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala led reconciliation committee a chance to resolve the crisis in the party.

The Commissioner also appealed to them to remain calm and allow the resolution of the crisis rocking the party as well as to put their differences aside and unite.

He gave the advice in an interview with Mega Icon Magazine in Ibadan on Sunday.

The former Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology recalled that before the demise of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, he preached passionately for peace to reign in the party and to achieve that he tasked Chief Akala to lead the reconciliation committee.

Olowofela who disclosed  that he was aware of the terms of reference, opined  that  former Governor Akala as a seasoned and experienced  politician is making frantic efforts to reconcile all groups with divergent views, adding that the Committee had started  on a good note.

Despite the fact that some groups opined that the executive of the party as presently constituted  should be dissolved,  but former Governor Akala had declared that the committee lacked such power.

Akala who emphasized on providence stressed that the late former Governor Ajimobi in 2011 had no or limited executive but became the govenor and that himself was aiming at becoming a Council Chairman before providence launched him to become the Deputy governor and later the governor.

According to the communiqué,  they resolved that the Committee should be expanded by adding aggrieved stakeholders as members  and also to invite two stakeholders from each local government so that all the councils in the state can be adequately represented.
