A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and governorship aspirant under the platform of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Adeniyi Akintola, on Tuesday, called on the national leadership of the party to intervene in the intraparty crisis rocking the state chapter of the party towards finding a lasting solution.

Addressing a press conference at his Agodi  residence, Ibadan, the APC chieftain described the current situation of the state chapter of the party as disorganized, urging the leadership of the party to urgently intervene and salvage the situation so that history would not repeat itself in 2023 general election.

He noted that the reconciliation effort must be a deliberate and coordinated one that seeks to truly harmonize all aggrieved tendencies within the party.

According to him, the intervention became necessary and urgent, adding that the ongoing schism in the party portends grave danger for the fortune of APC in the 2023 and subsequent elections in the state.

“It seems people do not learn from history and for history not to repeat itself, it is better for the National body of the party to act fast.

“We have challenges in Oyo state just as in any other parties, but if the National body act on time, we can still remedy the situation so they need to step in and harmonize all the factions”, he said.

The former Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly also dispelled the rumour that he has joined the Senator Teslim Folarin faction of the All Progressives Congress.

“There is no doubt that there is faction in Oyo APC, I want to say categorically that I’m not in the league with Tessy and I have nothing to do with Omodewu either.

“I don’t belong to their camp as they all met me in the game and based on principle and certain ethics I stand by I don’t engage in Politics of rice and beans so I have nothing to do with Omodewu and Teslim faction of the party”, Akintola declared.
