The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has issued a stern warning to its members, declaring an end to what it called a culture of sabotage, indiscipline, and veiled romance with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
The party, in a blistering statement on Wednesday by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, said it would no longer condone acts of disloyalty and self-serving political antics capable of derailing its quest to reclaim power in 2027.
The warning, observers say, follows media reports in which two unnamed APC leaders were quoted praising Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration—remarks the party believes hint at a growing alliance between some of its chieftains and the PDP.
“Only selfishness and poor orientation, borne out of indiscipline and myopia, could drive any genuine APC member into becoming a megaphone for the PDP,” Sadare fumed.
He accused the unnamed leaders of lending legitimacy to an administration that, according to the party, has wasted “enormous resources on frivolities and inanity” over the past six years.
“We found the conduct of the culpable personalities highly reprehensible and irresponsible, especially as they still claim to be chieftains of our great party,” he added.
Sadare noted that the current state executive, led by Olayide Abas, had worked tirelessly to reposition the APC through reconciliation and grassroots mobilisation, adding that the influx of prominent figures into the party was proof of its growing strength.
“The era of business-as-usual is over. We won’t hesitate to wield the big stick against anyone attempting to drag the party into chaos. Anyone working against Project 2027 is an enemy of the state,” he warned.
Project 2027, he said, is the APC’s strategic blueprint to unseat the PDP and return to Agodi Government House in the next general election.
While the party vowed to engage those accused of fraternising with the PDP “as democrats,” it maintained that every member must now align fully with the APC’s vision or face sanction.
