Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande has called on Governor Seyi Makinde to immortalise former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala who passed on during the week by naming an edifice after him.
Professor Akande made the plea while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of a condolence visit to the Ogbomoso country home of Otunba Akala.
Akande noted that Otunba Akala who served as governor of Oyo State for four years and 11 months deserved to be immortalized by the government in appreciation of his contribution to the development of the state.
He stressed that Akala’s politics was dominated by his love for the common man and the urge to be destiny helper to many people.
“As a politician, he had political differences with many people but that is the nature of politics. He was a man with a large heart who was committed to uplifting the common man out of poverty and despair.
” The testimonies to these are the huge turn out of sympathizers and the outpouring of grief on the announcement of his death. Not many politicians can record such testimonies.
“Otunba Akala left his imprint in the sands of time and the people of Oyo State will hold fond memories of him”, Akande said.
