Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande has facilitated a Digital Nigeria Centre (DNC) for the Government College, Ibadan (GCI).
The DNC is a federal government programme to improve learning and research by promoting the connection of government schools across Nigeria to broadband.
The programme include the provision of desktops,teacher laptops, reburfishment of ICT lab, including electrical, mechanical and civil works,furniture for the ICT lab, providing of learning software, internnet access, solar energy and one year technical and maintainance support to beneficiary schools.
The programme is managed by the Universal Service Provider Fund (USPF), an arm of the NCC, established primarily to facilitate the achievement of national policy goals for universal access and universal service to Information and Communication Technologies in rural, unnserved and undeserved areas in Nigeria.
