Oyo ADC Loses Prominent Members, As Balogun Secures PDP Senatorial Ticket

THE gale of defection continues in Oyo state as another governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr Kola Balogun dumped the party to secure Oyo South Senatorial District ticket under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Within 7 days, no fewer than 3 prominent members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state with their supporters defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Mega Icon Magazine had reported how Engr Rauf Olaniyan, also an ADC guber aspirant emerged PDP governorship running mate and the defection of its youth leader, Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye  to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

According to highly impeccable sources, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in the state has substituted the names of Chief Bayo Lawal with that of Dr Kola Balogun as its candidate for Oyo South senatorial district.

Dr Balogun is one of the 12 aggrieved governorship aspirants of the African Democratic Congress, ADC. Balogun and 11 others have not been happy with the announcement of Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin as ADC gubernatorial candidate. They are currently in court to challenge it.

Meanwhile, Lawal, who is Engr Seyi Makinde’s Campaign Director General had initially defeated former deputy governor, Barr Hazeem Gbokarumi, to clinch the ticket.

Balogun, as learnt, was in Abuja at the weekend to effect the substitution. He will slug it out with Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Adesoji Akanbi of ADC, Dr Fola Akinosun of the Action Democratic Party, ADP and others

Oyo South Senatorial District houses nine local governments namely: Ibadan South-West, Ibadan North, Ibadan North-West and Ibadan South-East.

Others are Ibadan North-East, Ido, Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East and Ibarapa North.
