In a shocking discovery, the Anambra State Government has uncovered 35 graves and other criminal paraphernalia in a popular hotel in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.
The gruesome find was made at Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, a two-story facility notorious for its use in kidnapping and other heinous crimes.
Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, disclosed the horrifying details while leading a demolition squad to the site.
He revealed that, apart from the graves, a shrine was discovered on the topmost floor of the building, along with live and expended bullets scattered across some rooms.
“This operation is in line with the Homeland Security Law signed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, which empowers us to demolish any property used for criminal activities. Beyond demolition, such properties will also be confiscated by the state government,” Ibezim stated.
The demolition of the hotel was executed swiftly as government operatives worked in collaboration with the security framework established by the Homeland Security Law.
According to eyewitnesses, the hotel, which was already in a state of disrepair, housed several grim discoveries, including rooms riddled with bullet holes and items used in ritualistic practices.
Speaking at the scene, Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakyi, reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating crime. He emphasized that the demolition was not a one-off action but part of a sustained effort to rid the state of criminal elements.
“We are sending a strong message to perpetrators of crime in Anambra. The government is battle-ready, and there will be no hiding place for anyone involved in these activities,” Emeakyi said.
The state government has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities.
“This is a war against crime and criminality, and everyone has a role to play,” the deputy governor added.
