The Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Wura-Ola Adepoju, has revealed that a significant number of 112,351 passport booklets remain uncollected by applicants from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This information was shared during a press briefing held at the NIS headquarters in Abuja on October 5.
Adepoju further disclosed that the NIS had successfully addressed the backlog of 204,332 passport applications, meeting the two-week deadline set by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in the previous month.
In light of this, she urged all applicants to promptly visit their respective application centers to retrieve their travel documents, ensuring the efficient processing of their passport applications.
According to the NIS chief, 91,981 passport booklets have been collected so far.
