Osun 2022: Adeleke renews guber ambition, tells Oyetola to prepare his handover note

Former Nigerian senator, Ademola Adeleke , the 2018 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed his intention to contest for the apex seat in the state again in 2022.

Adeleke, also advised the incumbent governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola to start preparing his handover notes, saying his days as governor are numbered.

He represented Osun west senatorial district between 2017-2019.

The PDP chieftain, who declared that he is ready to flag off his campaign without hindering those interested  in contesting the governorship ticket  from gunning for it, also urged them to be modest with their campaigns in the interest of peace in the party and state in general.

Speaking at a welcome rally organised by the PDP at it Secretariat in Osogbo,  Adeleke who arrived Nigeria after a two-year academic sojourn to the United States of America where he went to pursue a Diploma in Criminal Justice at the Atlanta Metropolitan State College, Georgia, said “the ruling party has messed up the state since coming to power. I am appealing to the Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola to start preparing his handover notes because his days as governor are numbered.

“I am back and ready to kick start my campaign. PDP belongs to everyone, I can’t stop anyone interested in the party’s ticket from contesting it, but l appeal for decency among everyone for peace within the party and the state”.

Posters of the former lawmaker were also sighted in some strategic locations in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, on Tuesday.

Our correspondent, who visited Osogbo sighted some of the posters along

Dele Yes Sir – Iwo-Osogbo road, Ring road, Okefia , Olaiya, Alekuwodo, Technical, Ogo-Oluwa areas among other major streets.

Adeleke’s picture was boldly displayed in the poster which read, “Imole De: Let’s Move Osun State Forward ”.

Earlier in his remarks, a factional chairman of the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Sunday Bisi, alleged that hoodlums attacked the party’s secretariat.

He noted that the ‘unprovoked attack on the secretariat by political thugs’ was  in a desperate attempt to scare party faithful from an important event billed to hold on the premises.

The PDP chieftain, however called on the law enforcement agents to do all within its powers to fish out the perpetrators and ensure they face the full wrath of the law.

It would be recalled that the incumbent governor of Osun state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola emerged at the end of a supplementary election which was held in seven polling units across four local governments.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, had alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won the six of the seven units amidst harassment and malpractice.

At the end of the supplementary election, the APC candidate, Governor Oyetola secured a total of 255,505 votes while the PDP Adeleke polled a total of 255,023 votes.
