Representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency of Oyo state, Hon. Aderemi Oseni has offered solutions to the challenges facing Nigerian youth, fostering hope for a better future.
The Chairman, House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), on Wednesday, shared recommendations at the 2nd Business Summit and Award Ceremony organised by the Emerging Elite’s Foundation in Abuja, commending the foundation for supporting African-owned businesses and fostering collaboration.
Presenting a paper titled “Nigerian Youths I Want to See: Championing Entrepreneurship, Innovative Economy, Fostering Unity, Progress, and Inclusivity,” he highlighted challenges confronting Nigerian youths, including high unemployment rates, limited access to quality education, and inadequate infrastructure among others.
“In the face of the current economic situation in Nigeria and around the world, Nigerian youths encounter several challenges. High youth unemployment rates, limited access to quality education, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of mentorship opportunities are just a few of the obstacles they face. Additionally, global economic downturns and technological advancements often exacerbate these challenges. The effects of this situation are widespread and can have long-lasting consequences”.
He emphasised the importance of hope, quoting the late African leader, Nelson Mandela: “Hope is a powerful weapon.” To instill hope, Oseni recommended embracing entrepreneurship, active participation in politics, and fostering peace and inclusivity.
Drawing from his paper at the 5th International Conference on Entrepreneurship, the lawmaker urged youths to explore opportunities in e-commerce, digital services, app development, fintech, agriculture, renewable energy, and healthcare technology.
Highlighting success stories of entrepreneurs like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and other local talents, he further stressed the need for collaborative efforts between the government, educational institutions, and the private sector to provide support, training, and resources for young entrepreneurs.
Transitioning to the political landscape, the structural engineer and business magnate turned politician, urged Nigerian youth to actively participate in politics, governance, and leadership.
Advocating unity and inclusivity, Oseni shared his journey from adversity to prosperity, encouraging youths to see challenges as growth opportunities, just as he expressed his vision for a new Nigeria, envisioning youth leading in entrepreneurship, innovation, and unity, ensuring progress echoes in the resilient and determined youth.
